Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s “The Beasts” (Spain), Lilo and Camilo Vilaplana’s “Plantadas” (U.S.), Hansel Porras Garcia’s “Febrero” (U.S., Cuba), Chandler Levack’s “I Like Motion pictures” (Canada) and Pavel Giroud’s “The Padilla Affair” (Cuba, Spain) have been among the many winners on the fortieth version of Miami Dade School’s Miami Film Festival, which ran March 3-12.
“The Beasts,” gained the pageant’s high awards, together with the highest jury prize, the $25,000 Knight Marimbas trophy and the Rene Rodriguez Critics nod. Along with the 2 awards, “The Beasts” composer, Oliver Arson was acknowledged for his soundtrack and awarded the Alacran Music in Movie Award, he was chosen by Artwork of Mild (Composer) Award honoree Nicholas Britell.
“Febrero” and “Plantadas” each have been awarded $45,000 for the Knight Made in MIA Movie Award after the 2 made their world premieres.
As well as “Plantadas” acquired the Viewers Function Movie Award, whereas Aitch Alberto’s “Aristotle and Dante Uncover the Secrets and techniques of the Universe” and Porras Garcia’s “Febrero” acquired first and second runner-up nods, respectively. The Jordan Ressler First Function Award acknowledged Levack’s “I Like Motion pictures,” which acquired $10,000.
“The Padilla Affair,” acquired the Documentary Achievement Award, Jorge A. Solino’s “El Trueno y el Viento” and Nicole Newnham’s “The Disappearance of Shere Hite” got here in second and third place, respectively.
